David Beckham's World Cup Tudor was all about the heritage
The England football legend sported one of the brand's new models at the World Cup quarter-final
AS HE’S one of England’s most legendary players, it should come as absolutely no surprise that David Beckham took to the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami to support the team in the World Cup quarter-final match against Norway. But, being the stylish man that he is, Beckham can’t help but steal the spotlight a little.
This time, he kept it classic in a sleek, smart and traditional navy blue two-piece suit. His colour coordination didn’t stop with the suit and tie, though. Beckham sported the new Tudor Black Bay 54, with a deep blue dial and bezel that brilliantly matched the rest of his outfit.
The Black Bay 54 line is particularly special. While the Black Bay watches have always had heritage at the heart, the 54s take more signature design cues from heritage Tudor dive watches than previous models, including the lack of hash marks on the bezel and a smaller crown.

One of the biggest tributes to Tudor’s heritage on this specific model is the ‘Tudor blue’ on the dial and bezel: it’s the distinctively deep sapphire that has defined the brand’s watchmaking for more than 50 years. The 37mm case, which is slightly smaller than the 39mm Black Bay 58 watches, also harks back to the proportions of the brand’s dive watches from the 1950s.
Just because heritage is at the heart, that doesn’t mean that Tudor isn’t embracing modernity with the Black Bay 54: it has a T-fit clasp for the most comfortable fit, luminated hour markers and hands, and the brand’s Manufacture Calibre MT5400, which has an impressive 70-hour power reserve.
If you’re looking to pick one up yourself, it’s on the more affordable end of luxury watches, with Beckham’s specific Tudor Black Bay 54 ‘Blue’ retailing for $6,630.
