Louis Vuitton adds a new destination to its Fragrances of the World
Travel in a bottle

IF YOU FOLLOW FRAGRANCETOK, you’ll know that any time Louis Vuitton announces a new fragrance, hype and excitement ensue. Cue Ambre Levant, the latest chapter in their Fragrances of the World series.
Built around the notes of amber and oud, Ambre Levant is tied to a particular moment in the Middle East: the shift from late afternoon to evening, when the day’s heat still tempers the air and the sky turns liquid gold over the landscape. It’s a colour and a mood as much as a fragrance.
The fragrance is composed by Louis Vuitton’s in-house Nose, Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. Since his tenure at the Maison, Belletrud has been ambitious in his quest for capturing the various house codes in perfume form. Ambre Levant opens with mandarin, offering a soft citrus note rather than sharp brightness. From there, warm spices emerge in stages: cardamom, cinnamon, white pepper and saffron.

At the centre of the composition is amber, supported by labdanum and white incense. Ambergris adds a mineral, slightly saline quality that keeps the scent from feeling heavy. Oud appears later and is used with precision. Sourced from northeastern Bangladesh through an exclusive Louis Vuitton partnership, it brings depth and structure without dominating the composition to create a fragrance that sits like a supply against the skin, like leather.
Exclusivity is a key part of the release. Originally launched as a Middle East exclusive, Ambre Levant has now been launched globally with bottles available online and in select Louis Vuitton boutiqes. The fragrance is presented in Louis Vuitton’s signature refillable bottle, rendered in black glass and tinted with a deep amber tone. Refills are available at select Louis Vuitton stores equipped with perfume fountains, reinforcing the house’s long-term approach to its fragrance line.
