Switzer Media & Publishing Pty Ltd (“Switzer”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of the people we deal with, including subscribers, readers, advertisers, contributors and website visitors across our titles, including Harper’s BAZAAR, Esquire, Men’s Health, Women’s Health and HODINKEE Australia.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and disclose it, and the rights you have in relation to it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and any other applicable law.

What is personal information

This includes information such as your name, contact details and payment details, as well as information collected automatically when you use our websites and digital products.

• Payment details — processed by our payment providers; we do not store full card numbers.

We may also collect personal information from third parties, including our affiliate and commercial partners, service providers (such as subscription and payment platforms), publicly available sources, and our own business records. Where practicable, we collect personal information directly from you rather than from a third party.

Our websites and emails use cookies, pixels and similar tracking technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, measure readership and engagement, and support advertising and analytics (including tools such as Google Analytics and social media advertising platforms). Why we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information

We may disclose your personal information to organisations that help us operate our business, including subscription and payment processors, IT and hosting providers, email and marketing platforms, market research and advertising agencies, freight and delivery providers, and our professional advisers such as accountants, auditors and lawyers.

We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law — for example, in response to a subpoena, a court or tribunal order, or a request from a regulator such as the Australian Taxation Office — or to credit, fraud or debt recovery agencies for verification or collection purposes. Personal information may also be disclosed to a prospective buyer or successor in connection with the sale or transfer of any part of our business.

Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers we use, including cloud hosting, email and analytics providers, may store or process personal information outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure that recipient handles the information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, including through contractual protections, except where an exception under APP 8 applies (for example, where you have consented or the disclosure is required by law).

Direct marketing

We may use your personal information to send you marketing communications about our titles, products, services, offers, events and content, including from brands we are associated with, where you have not opted out and this is otherwise permitted by law.

You can opt out of marketing communications at any time, free of charge, by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing message, emailing info@switzer.com.au, or writing to us at Level 4, 10 Spring Street, Sydney NSW 2000. We will action your request as soon as reasonably practicable.

Keeping your information accurate

We take reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we hold is accurate, complete and up to date. You can help by letting us know if your details change. You may update most of your information through your account on our website, or by contacting us using the details below.

Access to and correction of your personal information

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. We will respond to your request within a reasonable time. We will not charge you for making a request, but may charge a reasonable fee for giving access, where permitted by law.
