The end of “where’s my bag?” – finally, a better way to travel

WE ALL KNOW THE FEELING that comes with travel. There’s the excitement of escaping somewhere new, closely followed by the nagging question that inevitably creeps in the moment you check your luggage: will I see my bag again?
Which is why this latest move from Samsonite feels less like a product launch, and more like a very considered fix to something we’ve all just been putting up with.
The new Zipprix FT collection, featuring Waypoint™ – a built-in smart tag – basically removes the need for all the extra bits. No separate tracker, no remembering to charge something else, no tossing a Bluetooth tag into your suitcase and hoping it stays put. It’s already built into the personalisation tag, so it looks clean, works seamlessly, and just… does its thing.
And it works exactly how you’d want it to. It connects to both Apple Find My and Google’s Find Hub, so you can see where your suitcase is at any point – whether that’s nearby (in which case you can make it play a sound), or somewhere slightly less convenient.
The best thing? You’ll get a notification if you leave it behind, you can share its location with someone else, and if it does go missing, there’s even the option to display a message for whoever finds it. Everything is encrypted and private too, so it’s just you – and whoever you choose to loop in – who can see it.
But beyond the tech – which, admittedly, is the drawcard – it’s still about how the suitcase actually functions. And this is where you need to tune in.
The flat-top opening is one of those details you don’t think about until you’re unpacking in a small hotel room and suddenly realise you don’t need to take over the entire floor. It expands across all sizes (helpful, because overpacking is inevitable), and the internal organisation is genuinely useful – everything has its place, and stays there.
It’s made from lightweight polycarbonate, so it feels durable without being heavy, and moves easily thanks to the ball-bearing double wheels and dual tube pull handle. The top and side handles make the in-between moments – getting it off a carousel, into a cab, over uneven streets – feel a lot less awkward.
There’s also the practical side of things: TSA-approved locks, and a ten-year global warranty, which is always reassuring when you’re investing in something you’ll use properly.
And then visually, it’s just… chic. The gunmetal finish is slightly elevated without trying too hard – not overly polished, not too sporty, just something that works across whatever kind of trip you’re on. It comes in a full range of sizes too, from a 55cm carry-on through to 68cm and 75cm check-in options.
All of it comes together in a way that feels thought through, but not overdesigned. Like someone has actually paid attention to the small frustrations of travel – and quietly removed them.
Because realistically, travel will probably always come with a bit of chaos. But at least now, your suitcase doesn’t have to be part of it.
