The Want List: The Australian Fashion Week edition
The Esquire guide to a great week

WHAT TO DO, what to read, what to wear, what to burn some cash on. Every week the Esquire team round up the things that have caught our eye across the cities and online to keep you in great taste and style…
As we head into the annual Australian Fashion Week in Sydney, we’ve curated a collection from our favourite local designers. Keep scrolling for the perfect local wardrobe update.

This silk shirt from Belancē
Belancē has had some solid red carpet moments over the past few months and while they aren’t showing at Australian Fashion Week, they’ve high on our radar as one of Australia’s best menswear brands. Case in point, this Suen creation made from wild silk
While technically a jacket as hinted by the shawl lapel and double-breasted front, we’d push for it to be worn with nothing underneath (perhaps a vest) and more like a shirt. Either way, a worthy wardrobe addition.

This chore jacket from Christian Kimber
We are huge fans of versatile menswear that brings together tailoring and practical wear. Melbourne brand Christian Kimber (who is showing his new collection Thursday morning) has been mastering this Venn diagram approach to design for years.
Their Fitzroy chore jacket is a perennial favourite. Made from 100 per cent wool it is the perfect breathable layer to add during those mid seasons, but structured softly so you can throw it over a knit for additional warmth. Also, how good is the colour.

This hoodie by COMMAS
Cozy but make it tropical. Keep an eye out for our coverage of their show Tuesday morning.

The Alix Higgins upcycled polo
Take a core piece of preppy styling and give it its first edible. Alix Higgins has warped our favourite off-duty shirt, the polo, and put a deviant twist in its wearability.
Alix’s latest collection is coming to you Tuesday night.

These Sonny jeans from P. Johnson
Our uniform denim for the week ahead, the P. Johnson Sonny jeans come with a mid-seam rise with a subtle bootcut silhouette at the base.

This Song For The Mute sweatshirt
The deconstructed, graphic design of this took us straight back to 2003 when there was a burst of cult Australian designers stocked at stores like Capital L, Fat, Alfie’s Friend Rolfe and Luxe. On point for our biggest fashion event of the year.

These cargo trousers from Morrow
When Sydney brand Morrow dropped their first capsule in 2025, it became a huge hit for its utilitarian details. The second drop, which came in early May, has continued that concept but with a more tailored approach.
Our favourite from the new collection was a tie between the navy water shirt and these wool cargo trousers. The trousers won in the end due to their versatility. Plus, pleats.

This polo from M.J. Bale
Made from a cashmere-cotton blend, lightweight yet warm and ultra soft. Aim for a looser fit to keep that relaxed look. Great with the Morrow trousers and new SFTM x adidas 007 sneakers.

A ring from Harlin Jones
Statement jewellery for men is making a huge comeback. You know the ones, those eye-catching pieces with big stones.
We’ve got our eyes on a Harlin Jones creation, who has a soft spot for turquoise. Like this ring, made with blackened silver for that antique feel.

A pair of R.M. Williams Craftsmen
Always and forever the best boot. The Gardener is a new addition to the R.M. lineup and comes with an oiled leather body and rubber sole. A durable everyday boot, wet or dry.

This baseball hat from Lè Baus
Lè Baus is a relative newcomer to the scene who opened in Paddington late 2025. But they’ve quickly become one of our favourite elevated staples. Their padded gilet is already locked and loaded in our carts, along with this baseball cap.

This striped shirt from Venroy
A colour everyone can where, easy fit. Layer it, wear it on its own – a workhorse of a shirt.
