The Want List: The Long Weekend Edit
The Esquire guide to a great long weekend

EASTER is, hands down, the best holiday of the year. It’s not even a competition. The long weekend, the lack of obligations – it provides the ultimate quick-break getaway opportunity where you can recharge the batteries.
No planning, just hit the road and go somewhere out of reach and OOO.
To get you roadtrip ready, or packed for that flight, here’s what the Esquire team are packin’ for the weekend.

This Carl Freidrik suitcase
Pack light, pack efficiently, pack only what you need.
We’re fans of anything that is lightweight and mobile, and the new aluminium collection from Carl Friedrik meets both these needs. Helps that it’s incredibly visually pleasing, too, with the mid-century aesthetic and leather detailing.

A pair of Hunter gumboots
Fun fact: a pair of gumboots were the footwear of choice for the British aristocracy. Posh folks appreciate the practical over the performative, it seems.
Which begs the question why we’ve been stomping around in wet sneakers for the past few weeks…
But never again after finding these Chelsea-style gumboots by Hunter. Made with 100% (FSC certified) natural rubber with non-slip soles, these might be the perfect “weekend shoe”.

This Loro Piana yak wool overshirt
Cozy doesn’t even begin to describe the feeling of this jacket. The perfect layer for transitional season warmth that has enough breathability you won’t overheat the second the sun comes out.

This towel from Hermès
Life’s too short not to have nice things.

These shorts from COMMAS
Australian brand COMMAS has mastered the ratio of elevated resort > relax aesthetic.
You could easily spend your entire weekend in these shorts, cycling through different shirts as needed.

These sunglasses by Bottega Veneta
We’ve been keeping an eye (pun) on the tinted lens trend for some time now and it’s hard to top these ones by Bottega Veneta.
The chunkier frame, the wide fit all play into a more casual vibe. Exactly the style cues we’re wanting for a long weekend.

A bottle of Dom Pérignon 2015
As champagnes go, this one has an incredibly easy palate to appreciate. Sweetness of stone fruits, citruses are rounded out with a nice level of acidity. A fantastic dinner champagne, an even better apero champagne.

This Flamingo Estate body wash
If you’re not familiar with the Flamingo Estate brand, you’re in for a treat.
The entire range is good, but this particular wash with rosemary, clary sage and eucalyptus smells has an incredible woody, fresh-from-the-garden aroma.

A Brick
You’re not truly OOO and out of reach until you physically switch off. The Brick will literally brick your phone for a specific period of time – no apps, no scrolling, no checking emails on the side.
