WHAT TO DO, what to read, what to wear, what to burn some cash on. Every week the Esquire team round up the things that have caught our eye across the cities and online to keep you in great taste and style…

This week, our wanderings took us from the paddock to the plate. In both a literal and figurative sense. A toastie to make your mouth melt. A single glass of tequila costs even more. And an equine-inspired fragrance from Hermès.

Check out the list below for this week’s The Want List.

This fragrance from Hermès

Originally, Paddock was released as a limited edition scent to celebrate the annual Saut Hermès – Hermès’ annual show jumping competition held at the Grand Palais. Thankfully, Hermès saw its potential, and it has entered the official lineup.

Paddock is, as you would guess, an immersion into the world of horses. Hay, grass and carrot notes, hints of leather and iris. It is green and feral, fresh and animalic. It isn’t an easy scent, but it is fascinating and has a mercurial nature that veers between creamy softness and warmer ambers. Consider it the olfactive equivalent of riding a horse – you’ll definitely be taken on a journey.

This toastie from Grazia d’Asporto

You can’t go wrong with a decent toastie, really, but when they’re good they’re good.

Operating out of Glen Iris, Grazia d’Asporto has become a pilgrimage for Melbourne locals on the hunt for meat and melted cheese. The Goloso, pictured, is their menu staple and bliss in a bite. Keep an eye out for the specials though – the meatball panini is a unicorn.

Tickets to see Obsession

Obsessed.

This jumper by Fendi

A jumper that has the vibe of a rugby shirt, this lightweight cotton piece from Fendi is an inspired choice for precarious winter weather. Warm, but no overheating. Easy to layer. Perfect shade of blue.

In other words, perfect. Particularly happy with the trompe-l’oeil Selleria stitching.

These bootcut jeans by Zero Meaning

Drop one from Bondi Beach-based brand Zero Meaning promised big things. Founder Oli Little was tapping into gender-neutral essentials, seasonless and minimal in design.

Drop two meets all of them. Especially the jeans and double-so these indigo bootcut, cut high and generous in the leg made from Japanese denim. Your new uniform.

This shirt by Golden Goose

A good shirt. In fact, a great shirt. A cotton linen blend, with embroidered detail, Golden Goose’s signature aged effect works well here. A shirt that feels like your old faithful, straight out of the box.

These Veja ‘Panenka’ sneakers

Did you even do the World Cup without investing in a pair of new on-theme sneakers? Collabs abound but our favourite has to be Brazilian brand Veja’s take on their Panenka – the Veja x Magliano which are inspired by vintage football cleats.

Olé, Olé, Olé.

This food fragrance by Fin

Who said there was nowhere else for the niche fragrance industry to go? Enter food fragrance – eau de licious

Masterchef finalist Karlie Verkerk created Fin as a new way to garnish a dish without the need for herbs (or in case you’ve run out). There are two scent offerings: Fin. Lime Tarragon Pepper version and Fin. Basil Oregano Lemon.

As someone who would know commented – that latter basil-based one would absolutely smash on top of a martini. Go get.

A hot bath at Sense of Self

Cancel some plans and spend some time focused on reaching a recovery state. Not every weekend has to be adrenalin packed.

Sense of Self offers an array of health beneficial experiences – magnesium soaks, cold plunge, sauna and even a hammam. For true impact, spend an entire morning moving from hot to cold and feel the tension literally melt off.

This Melbourne establishment is soon to open in Surry Hills, so Sydney locals should keep an eye out.

This coat from Zegna

A great winter coat is worth its weight in gold. This masterpiece by Italian brand Zegna is a blend of cashmere and silk for a lightweight but protective warmth that you could easily throw over a shirt sans any other layering.

An inverted pleat in the back adds extra width across the shoulders. Bigger lads, this one is for you.

These Salomon XT6 MM6 sneakers

Do we really need to explain why we would want these Salomon x Margiela collab sneakers?

It’s essentially the three C’s of design: colour, comfort and cool factor. Tick, tick and tick.
