The Want List: What caught the Esquire team's eye this week
The Esquire guide to a great week

WHAT TO DO, what to read, what to wear, what to burn some cash on. Every week the Esquire team round up the things that have caught our eye across the cities and online to keep you in great taste and style…
This week, our style needs are purely functional: the brand new Zenith Chronomaster, a brooch for all occasions by Tiffany & Co., an armchair to be proud of and a table at Adelaide’s most exciting new restaurant.

This brooch from Tiffany & Co.
One of the more interesting things happening in menswear right now is the adoption of the brooch as an everyday accessory. Not informal, per se, but worn to update the more casual of lapels of a weekend suit.
Our favourite right now is an Elsa Peretti snake brooch from Tiffany & Co.. It’s subtle enough if you’re still testing out the trend but timeless for those who want an easy signature. Doubles as a tie-pin in a flash.

This jacket from Wynn Hamlyn
In this house we support incredible designers and original fashion. New Zealand brand Wynn Hamlyn is high on that list and one you should be investing in for creative cred.
The woven cotton offers thick, comfortable protection. The deconstructed detail brings just looks good. Support the work of true artists.

This new Zenith Chronomaster
This latest watch from Zenith has been out in the world for literally 48 hours and we’re already locked in. The Chronomaster Revival A384 Tropical is a reissue of the 1969 El Primero reference with a “tropical” brown dial that mimics the sun-aged patina collectors spend decades hunting for.
A neat 37mm tonneau case looks like it was pulled straight from the archive. It’s also sporting the iconic Gay Frères ladder bracelet, too. Details.

A booking at Restaurant Aptos
If you ate at Restaurant Botanic during Justin James’s tenure, you already know just how imaginative this man is with a menu.
Now he’s gone and converted a 158-year-old Adelaide Hills church into a 14-seat diner called Aptos, staffed by alumni of Gaggan, Lurra and Eleven Madison Park, and built around the most committed native ingredients menu we’ve seen in a long time. Sixteen courses, cutlery ditched at certain points, and bookings open now. Go.

This armchair from Mobilia
Consider it a marker of becoming someone with taste – a great armchair. Something you can actually relax into and read. Or nurse that glass of Ardbeg.
We scoured for days searching for something that could fit that brief and the team unanimously landed on this high-backed piece designed by Jean-Marie Massaud for Poltrona Frau. Differentiated padding ensures maximum comfort and support, while the paired back design is easily inserted into any room.

A bottle of Ardbeg Dolce
Ardbeg’s annual limited release is one of the more reliable dates on the whisky calendar, and Ardbeg Dolce might be the most interesting one yet. The distillery has taken its classic Islay peat and run it through Marsala dolce casks, the sweetest expression of Sicily’s fortified wine.
The result is exactly as unexpected as it sounds: apricot, dark chocolate and salted nuts alongside the smoke, at 47.8% ABV. Australia actually gets this one first.

These whiskey tumblers from Waterford
If you’re drinking the best, do it justice by making sure the glass matches the contents. It’s the little things, honestly.
Handcrafted in Ireland, these two Waterford Crystal tumblers carry the gravitas that a great whiskey requires. They also look great in the drinks cabinet and better yet as you can toast with a pal.

This soft tapestry by Ngaarlu
These woven jacquard creations from First Nations brand Ngaarlu are multipurpose pieces of practical art.
Practical in that, while you’re welcome to hang them as a tapestry, they’re also designed to be thrown over a chair (see above) and used as throw to stay warm under.
Double-sided (with colour variations), another addition to creating the home of a man can be proud to invite someone back to.

These embroidered trousers from Giorgio Armani
We recently discussed the right way to wear trousers in 2026. The biggest advice – loosen them pants up.
These black embroidered trousers from Giorgio Armani have won over the Esquire team for both their fit and their ability to shift from evening to something more casual. The right and shirt and shoes, anything is game.
