YOU DON’T NEED TO BE a car enthusiast to appreciate the drama of a Lamborghini. It’s not just a vehicle – it’s a full-throttle statement. Loud, fast, unapologetically extra, and dripping in Italian ’tude. So it’s no real surprise that Lamborghini, never one to do things quietly, has gone and smashed its own records. Again. In 2024, Automobili Lamborghini didn’t just cross the finish line, it flew over it in technicolour.

The numbers speak for themselves: €3.09 billion ($5.3 billion AUD) in revenue (the first time the brand has ever crossed the €3 billion mark) €835 million ($1.43 billion AUD) in operating income, and 10,687 cars delivered across the globe. That’s a 16.2 per cent revenue increase and a 15.5 per cent jump in profit year-on-year. In a market that’s seen its fair share of turbulence, Lamborghini shifted into another gear.

“Evolving the entire product range while continuing to grow: this is how we can summarise another record year,” said Lamborghini chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann. “Despite the difficulties in the automotive market and the highly competitive climate, in 2024 we recorded growth in all three macro regions (Americas, EMEA and APAC), confirming the global strength of the brand. These results highlight the strengths of our extraordinary team and fill us with confidence and determination as we embrace the next challenges in the sector, continuing to combine performance, exclusivity and innovation.”

Those challenges are, of course, wrapped in carbon fibre and powered by innovation. Over the last 18 months, Lamborghini has completely refreshed its line-up. First came the Revuelto, a 1,001-horsepower plug-in hybrid V12 that somehow manages to combine electrification with sheer old-school energy. Then the Urus SE arrived – Lamborghini’s next-gen Super SUV, blending even sharper performance with technological refinement. And finally, the bold new Temerario revealed at Monterey Car Week put the final exclamation mark on this new era: aggressive, beautifully sculpted, and designed for those who prefer life in the fast lane.

Yet beyond the stats and horsepower, there’s something deeper at play. Lamborghini has managed to do what many heritage brands struggle with: evolve without losing the plot. Tradition hasn’t been abandoned – it’s been reinterpreted. And that extends beyond the vehicles. The company added 1,000 new employees in just two years and is investing heavily in sustainable growth, research, and next-generation production systems.

There’s also a sense of exclusivity baked into every model. Each car is a statement of rarity and craftsmanship, designed not just to be driven but remembered. From highly customisable interiors to limited runs that hold their value (and then some), Lamborghini continues to blend high performance with even higher desirability.

In short, they’ve nailed the balance – of legacy and future, of brute force and refined strategy, knowing when to hit the accelerator and when to reinvest in the journey.

Let’s be honest – Lamborghini doesn’t really do subtle. But in a year defined by record-breaking growth, electrified transformation and strategic boldness, it’s clear they’re not just making noise. They’re setting the pace.
